  1. Looking the other way… =)

    Art imitating Art

I think there are several versions of this magazine floating around, for the TED speakers…

  2. Congratulations, Steve! You make a good cover.

  3. Not using the neck strap…how careless of you. 🙂

  4. VERY suave (avoids fully quoting Dennis Hopper’s Frank Booth from Blue Velvet) – but were you, in fact, on Blue / Broadway?

  5. My newsstand issue has the Transformers story on the cover. I can’t believe they would think that Optimus Prime is a bigger attention-getter.

  6. Yay! Congrats. Great way to start the 4th. Like the way the iPhone has maps on it but Wired looks like it’s doing an editorial callout to the phone. It feels kind of self referential/recursive.

  7. yeah, workin’ it here! 🙂

  8. Woo, so how hard would it be to track this down to buy? Most excellent.

  9. why can’t we get the iphone in canada!!!???
    i can’t wait 2 years….!!!! (blasted carrier red-tape)

    I’ve liked Streiber’s work for a while.
    🙂
it’s actually a very flattering shot of you! ….. go figure!
    😛
    😛

  10. Create your own Wired cover, but you won’t get a map.

Wired/Condenast, you really should be using HP Indigo presses if you want quality! (ob disclaimer: I work for HP).

  11. no map… and no magazine… =)

  12. "a very flattering shot of you… go figure" -leino

Indeed… go figure, as flattering as those you made of him! – from the set which was (is?) at his bio at dfj… there are 2 with a blue shirt…

    tre men dous!

    *blink blink*

  13. match point ..ebayuk had two up but they soon retracted
but what color feather for the hat 🙂

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

  14. Ah, it seems the Wired custom cover was originally a contest where your own cover could be on a real copy of the magazine, but now it has morphed into just a plain cover you can print yourself.

That’s ok, expect to see a lot more things like this in the future. And it won’t just be the cover that is customized.

  15. Hi, I’m an admin for a group called WIRED Covers: 15.07, and we’d love to have your photo added to the group.

  16. alienesssssss—- yeah…. i’m due to create some new ones of Steve, dont U think?
U’ve … ahem… used those "hands" quite often to date….
    😛

  17. yeah, you must have a photo session asap! that face is thirsty of a new book.

Oh, those wonderful hands… *sigh* 😀

You know, the´ve gotten a life of their own! They are an insituttion worldwide, even a consultancy company in Spain have them framed big size at their reception room (and it´s main the image of their website -soon relaunching (see preview)-, along with a butterfly I made which is their logo)! =)

It was a great example of collaborative work: you took an excellent shot, the model has awesomest hands, and I contribted with the femenine gaze to catch the ♥ shape detail, and made the crop. Voilá! =)))

We have to encourage Steve in his career as a model. We are the perfect team: he models, you shoot and I… I enjoy, LOL! No, I am the media agent, I manage his contracts.

All this to say: as his agent I must presence that photosession when you make it, clear? 😀 😀 😀

  18. =)

I just heard some interesting tidbits from an ex-Nokia exec:
Nokia makes 1.1 million cell phones every day, with no inventory and negative working capital (they collect two days before paying suppliers).

They also have the majority of the smart phones out there, but people are not using the functionality.

Apple has achieved what Nokia has been trying to do for years… Amazingly, in Europe, if you exclude traditional SMS and MMS, the iPhone already represents 80% of all data services traffic!

It reminds me of the Mac vs. DOS in the early years…. The graphical UI makes it easier to discover and explore new applications.

  19. Apple understands the power of a seamless and intuitive GUI, and i think that’s where it blows the competition out of the water. granted, there are still limitations with the iphone, but for a 1st generation release of a new product by a new company entering one of the most competitive sectors and then to achieve such a large market share is pretty impressive.

the iphone and the incoporation of google maps also instantly changes the way that we can interact with our environment and with other people. for example, when i was in new york recently and was walking along the streets of brooklyn with my girlfriend, a man was dragging along his suitcase looking hopelessly lost. he came up to us and asked us for directions and within seconds, my girlfriend was able to whip out her iphone, look it up on google maps, and send the gentleman on his way. not that long ago, we would’ve had to say "sorry, we’re not familiar with this part of town either" and feel equally helpless as we walked away.

the nokia N95 does have google maps but looking at its clunky GUI and its lack of integration with the core functions of the phone, it’s clearly no match for the smarter iphone:)
