This is a big rocket with a big M5000 motor (I think it was experimental, as a number of us got some free motors from the Aerotech labs today). Right off the rail, it went unstable, probably from too much aft weight, and corkscrewed toward us.

One of many delightful launches today at DairyAire… a Tripoli launch event at a dairy farm in the middle of nowhere… Closest town is Helm, CA with one commercial building.

  1. Would it not be nice if you could see it go up very far into space?!
    Too bad for the flip.

  2. "That rocket is coming right back towards us – RUN AWAY!!"

"Run away? Don’t be silly – I’m going to get a photo!" 🙂

Seen next to a fellow photo of Canon EOS 5D Group. (?)

  3. I love the smell of rocket fuel in the morning. 🙂
