A light moment… but Iraq was the one area where Senator Clinton took a deep dive:

“The problem is that the President really thinks he is right.
He is impervious to reason, evidence and argument.”

“We had Osama Bin Laden cornered at Tora Bora, and we just let him go… Now he is getting a lot of new funding from Saudi billionaires.”

“Much of the world believes in the Pottery Barn Rules: if you break it, you own it.”

“I’d hate to see a bloodletting, but there may be no choice.”

I found it hard to connect, whether from her staccato rhythm, or her peculiar habit of looking at the floor for most of her talk.

  1. I don´t know Mrs Clinton enough, however, what I know for sure is that wish I could attend a fireside chat with Mr Clinton. I always liked him. He was your country´s president in my highschool years, where international politics were a main subject -also for I belonged to several U.N. related events-. So he was in my books and notes like all the time. I learned to appreaciate him. Perhaps I am wrong, but it´s my feeling. =)

"The problem is that the President really thinks he is right."
Well, imo, that´s the problem with all this big people who do evil, they are convinced they are in the right. At the very best they would agree that the means are bit evil, but the cause justifies them -therefore the rightousness of the "cause" would wipe the evil of the "means"-. Which makes me think about her other quote: “I’d hate to see a bloodletting, but there may be no choice.”

    Looping thoughts… =/

  2. Those quotes from memory? (I mean, yours).

  3. Aided by notes. I wrote these ones down. The first one is verbatim.

Alieness: Yeah, Bill is brilliant. I have met him in three different contexts, the most magical being a dinner at the White House. He showed us his office and family photos and golf clubs… It was an unbelievable evening.

  4. That could almost be mistaken for a Republican Elephant on the mantel behind the Senator. 😉

  5. Ms. Clinton is Not her husband! And, frankly, I think she has the same ‘head-strong onemindedness’ as our current "leader". Time for some new ideas and a fresh view of our place in the world. (and Hillary, get rid of the new age leisure suit)….LOL 😉

  6. They say that pets resemble their owners in the long run… but it definitely doesn´t happen between spouses. Amazingly the contrary happens most of the time. 😛

It was a Clinton-related event when you met Sarah at the piano, j, do i recall right? Then, we´d have *another* reason to think of him and smile. ^_^

The next time you are to meet him, gimme a call. 😉

  10. I´vejust found got this quote on email:

"Peace is normally a great good, and normally it coincides with righteousness, but it is righteousness and not peace which should bind the conscience of a nation as it should bind the conscience of an individual; and neither a nation nor an individual can surrender conscience to another’s keeping."
    Roosevelt, Theodore –
