A series of spooky life-size obelisks where the faces follow you as you walk along….

  1. Does it make me a total dork that the first words that sprung to mind were ‘frozen carbonite’?

  2. Is the figure hollow?

Perceptual psychologist Richard Gregory likes to demo hollow face masks and has a couple of video clips here:

  3. "Frozen carbonite" — that’s great! Didn’t think of that when I first viewed the image, but now that you mention it…

  4. Speaking of carbonite… I heard Leo LaPorte talking about an online backup service called Carbonite. I can’t believe how they’ve stolen that name… for shame.

  5. The Exploratorium had a concave face on display yesterday. Seeing the effect in person as I was walking by, watching it follow me, put it into perspective — now I get it. I’d love to see it in life-size art form. Need to go try Quattro.

  6. Eppie: Hansa Solo is standing vertical…. She is one of four freeze frames in a row

sparklig: yes. She is a hollow carving into the block.

Some optical cross talk gets her happy feet a flutter…

  7. She’s frozen in carbonite!!

    ^-^
    I’m such a geek.

  8. And now you can drink it….Han Solo in Carbonit Ice Cube Tray (ThinkGeek)
