The sled dogs would go cross-eyed nuts with excitement just before the sled brake was lifted and they could lunge forward.

  2. My dog – a stunted, inbred descendant of these guys’ ancestors – is the same way about walkies. Especially in the snow!

    (While I am joking, I would not be surprised at all if high-end vets were doing this aready)

  5. Yes, I think I read somewhere that they get HUGE endorphin highs or similar from the workout.

    Oddwick, you may not be off the mark. Seriously. My Mom had a purebred Airedale that was a little nutzo and she had a skin condition that would come around every so often (doggie psoriasis or some such,) and the one thing that stopped her from chewing herself up was Prozac.

    Yup. We’ve come to giving our pets Prozac.
