The valiant Telstar G-Force suffered a motor ejection charge failure and so it came back ballistic and lawn-darted nose down into a rocky river bed at Snow Ranch. The nose cone provided a crumple zone as it jammed back into the top tube (bearing a certain likeness to a Beastie Boys album cover). It is an office display item now.
But I am very excited to have just received a December build of a Dr. Rocket reloadable K700 motor. It’s the big one decked out in anodized red Xmas colors. The yellow-lettered Aerotech G40 motor that the G-force flew on gives a sense of relative scale… Both burn solid AP propellant.
And in the middle is the new G-Wiz motor controller (it logs flight info and controls the in-flight pyros).
I am looking forward to launching the red fiberglass Firestorm54 rocket on the K700 motor at Mavericks in June (some may notice my contributions to their fledgling website =).
I should finally break Mach1, reaching 1,125 mph and an altitude of 2.6 miles.
