  1. A mystery indeed! It does not look real.
Hum, I was not brought up as a child with English books so no Dr. Seus for me. I only know what is most talked about. Now, I just learned something. Wikipedia oblige.

  2. Ah, here you go…

I found this in a field, next to a radiant persimmon tree full of plump orange balls and no leaves.

  3. He lived in California (La Jolla) during the years he wrote children’s books… maybe these were indeed an inspiration of a sort.

  4. Pink Fractals bearing Blue Fractal children… Such is the bounty of nature.

  5. Drona: This tree is across the street from you! I was hoping you might be able to identify it….

  6. Hmmmm…Just got home from work…now you have given me some homework. I will get back to you in 24 hrs professor. 🙂

  7. Please, lets not start making Thneeds!

  8. I am impressed with this unusual looking tree. Merci Steve for showing it to us and merci Drona for the research.

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

  9. thanks y’all…. especially Monsieur Drona, plant inspecteur.

The surreal/unreal look caught my eye too. I am looking straight up (these are horizontal limbs) and I used a fill-flash to sharply illuminate them from below against a dim dusk sky. So the lighting is peculiar when seen as cluster of vertical trees. And the sky looks like a painting.

  10. You certainly succeed in making this image transport us to a world of fantasy.

Seen in my recent comments. (?)
