Puzzle Series: What is this, or what do you want it to be?

  1. A telephone post in fake wood with spikes to climb it. Cables run through the post and are easily accessible from the lower opening.

It is hardly pretty so I really do not want it to be anything else. LOL

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

  2. Giant christmas tree trunk?

  3. I think it is a very dead street lamp. Wonderful picture whatever it is.

  4. cell phone tower "tree" being constructed.

  5. Mr Pinhead examined the cables attached to the CyberMace Mk42 that’d arrived by mail order. Whistling under his breath, he murmured, "Some surgery required."

  6. I’m not the first to say it, but I took a photo of one in LA:

    from The Rocketeer

The cable at the bottom is "hardline"… thick and low loss. Can’t bend that cable too much or it is ruined.

Please consider adding it to the Vanishing Points Group.

  7. Hi there,
It looks like a cell phone tree, but for once I would prefere it to be either an artificial cactus or something artistic, like these ones :
    Lyman Whitaker

As it look a little bit old, should we call it a communication pole and consider telegraph as well?

  8. I like it! I’m pretty sure the answer’s been guessed though. I want it to be an artifical tree world with generous 0g attach points. It looks the way it does because it’s a photographic negative. Lighter colors are better for cooling purposes, and the white cables are just to look sexy.

  9. I second the vote for telegraph pole. It’s just a very *fancy* telegraph.

  10. Looks like a totempole or something screaming.

  11. Bingo twoeightnine, a new winner. Mimosa was close.

It’s a 70 ft. Verizon tower, meant to look like a big pine tree when it’s done. Jaems should be right. Once the branches are in, they should hang Xmas lights on it (they locals asked but Verizon was unwilling).

Love the creative answers. Hermitstar: great description. Munch in metal. I thought I saw atavistic iconography…

  12. Since I have never seen up-close a cell tower or heard of any imitating a tree, I will give myself a pat on the back for a very "close" answer, as Steve said.

Seen in my recent comments. (?)
