My Dad and I just had a magical dinner with Buzz Aldrin. He is just remarkable, and full of ideas (e.g., 60-person orbital rocket rides).

The XPrize Executive Summit is a prelude to the XPrizeCup tomorrow. Both are in Las Cruces, New Mexico, which I tried to mark on the large globe.

And, no, he was not aware of Neil Armstrong’s concerns about Apollo 11.

  1. oh wow! how very cool!
care to share any interesting conversation with the great man?

  2. yes… but I have to go to sleep now to catch the early launches tomorrow (winds are better in the morning)… and I was in ShenZhen last night and need to crash….zzzzzzz

  3. This is the first time I have seen your Dad, Steve. You favor him quite a lot. What a great opportunity you and your Dad shared.

  4. Great stuff. Please share some good tidbits when you get the chance!

  5. You have a rich social/work related life! That is wonderful! Stimulating!

It keeps the "little grey cells" working as Hercule Poirot would say. (Well his famous quote was: "It is the brain, the little gray cells on which one must rely. One must seek the truth within–not without." but he would always talk about the "little grey cells")

With this Father and son in Estonia and the one with your great uncle, you could now have a family set!

  6. I particularly liked his explanation for orbit paradox when you go past another craft on a smaller orbit at the same speed.. wonderful photo steve

  7. Happy Birthday
    Buzz Aldrin!

  8. Haha Still Buzzing indeed !!!

I met with him last night, and I have to say, I haven’ t see much people showing and sharing such energy than him.

He gave us an improvised and fun "special version" of 2001 a space odyssey tonight with Conductor John Scott ‘s orchestra =) (video with the photo)

I got to hear lots of stories from him and few others French astronauts while sitting in the middle of them. It was like being a child in the middle of other children, talking about dream-like stories, experiences, memories and ideas about the future of space exploration. It was great ! You would have loved it =)
