   awesome. For the prior photo with the surveillance cameras, I had originally written Blade Runner, and then switched to Philip K. Dick’s other great work.

   These tiny devices are photodiodes, which are the receiving end of a signal coming across an optical fiber. They are subcomponents in a larger optoelectronic module which would be used in modern multi-wavelength fiber optic networks.

   Looking back at this, I am struck by the synchrony of body positioning down the line.

   Indeed, you nailed some nice perspective there, as they head into the vanishing point.

   I wonder what this might have looked like if shot with time lapse. I imagine some wonderful patterns emerging.

   And surely they must develop some curious muscle memory! Imagine being able to build photodiodes without looking! 😉
