After this, nothing… The Black Rock Desert is devoid of visible plants and animals. Not even a rock.

I’m heading back there tonight to see if BALLS can live up to its very exciting description:

“BALLS is a venue for projects that should NOT be flown publicly due to safety and legal restrictions.

This launch will be primarily for Research Motors and/or Dangerous projects. Do NOT come to observe unless you are directly involved in a Pre-Approved Experimental Project.

WARNING: THIS WILL BE A DANGEROUS LAUNCH!

•THIS IS NOT A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT•”

What’s not to love?

  1. Ooh ooh! Have fun! You’re flying your beast this weekend, too, eh? Sounds fun!

  2. Rocket go boom? Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. Is this the gas station in Empire? When did they add the Shrek?t

  4. I can tell you from experience, when Shrek shows up you KNOW you are leaving civilization…

  5. steve, as you know the most dangerous part of the weekend will be the trips in and out on 447. brake for the cows, ignore the bunnies (they are filling their kamikaze destinies under your tires; no reason to swerve and roll it at 70 mph…)

    have fun out there.

LotE…shrek was out there in august, don’t know how much before that he showed up. previously, the empire gas station had Sully from Monsters, Inc. in a similar size, but Sully was getting pretty rank after a few years out there…

  6. I haven’t been out to Black Rock since 1998. I have a feeling that things have probably changed a bit in little old Empire since then.

  7. Shrek has been out there a few years, I remember seeing him in 2003 on my way out to the Playa.

  8. owwhhh..this is SHREK ^.^

  9. Perhaps… or is it the Matrix?
