Tom was giddy as he opened the crate on his O5100 motor (cruise missile booster aftermarket). For a size comparison, the G33 motor is sticking out of the rear of the Aerotech Initiator rocket. It’s so puny in comparison – it’s roughly the size of the igniter (or “electric match”) for the O-size motor.

  1. Taking a much deserved rest I see.

  2. whoa. that thing could eat the wittle baby rocket!

  3. That’s an impulse of 510 seconds!? Lordy, that’s gotta have some serious boost! With one stage you could get to 100k feet?

  4. The 5100 means an average thrust of 5100 Newtons.

The "O" reflects the total impulse range. For this motor, it’s about 30K Newton Seconds (thus a burn time of 5.9 seconds). More details here

    Made in Canada, eh!

  5. Ah, so this is just the acceleration motor for the cruise missile. Reloadable, coooool! 😀

  6. Awesome! Can you even RockSim a motor like that? I’d love to be listening when our club president called that launch into the CVG tower…
