3 separate shots, autobracketed -2/+2 EV for speed. The -2EV frame just contributed the center of the tie fighter, bright from the outdoor sun. For stability, I try to anchor my elbows somewhere (in this case the floor!) and shoot between breaths.

To get four vertical pillars at 16mm, I could not use a tripod. I had to lie flat on my back in front of the altar. =)

  5. Difficult task… handheld HDR. Did you use the RAW from one shot and make multiple exposure versions and then combine them together or did you use separate shots?

  7. I would love to have seen you in that position, Steve! Thanks!

  8. Very impressive indeed. Seeing just the thumbnail, I thought it would be an aerial night view of the Eiffel tower from straight above 😉 !

  9. We tend to take for granted that great photos are the result of a simple click. We forget that to get a good result, photographers must analyse, plan, calculate, think outside the box and often do some momentary acrobatics. When we learn the truth, we can better appreciate the superb quality of an image such as this one and the unusual perspective that others would not ever consider. Good job!

  10. I love the architecture – there is a similar structure in my city – I took your same approach – flat on the back as still as possible
