
Rocket huggers everywhere at XPRS.
Actually, this gentle gesture is to listen for the audible chirps that signal that the on-board electronics are armed properly.
You can see, and hear, this one launch with a N-size motor, video on Revver [Doh! Revver is no more; wish I had used YouTube]. It was a perfect launch in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada… the only place in the country (and probably the world) with a 100K ft. launch waiver from the FAA.
These motors leave a crater in the clay at takeoff. Moments earlier, a rocket shredded at Mach 2 on an L motor.
September should be a fun month. I am trying to decide between XPRS and BALLS which are back-to-back weekends in Black Rock Desert this year….
