   I TiVo’d a Disco Channel (I think) show a few months ago that covered this, a contest to launch "anything", with many categories and other similarly implausible objects. Wish I could remember the show or dig up a reference.

    NAR, the regulatory body in the U.S, actually has guidelines on this. Insects are OK. Frogs and your sister’s pets – not OK.

    "Rolly Polly" pill bugs make good cosmonauts. They so rarely get to pull a g… and although it’s involuntary, they get the honor of serving their country….

    Re every boy’s idea: I believe you! When I was in my mid-twenties, a male friend my age told me that when he was a boy, he and his buddies would have fun exploding bird houses, with the birds in them! He felt bad about it because he was now a caring doctor. Today, he is a prominent reconstructive surgeon! I guess it is just part of boys growing up.

    Re rolly polly: I knew the name from a fun song in the 1959 movie Pillow Talk but I never had an idea of the meaning of the word. Now I know! You can find anything on the Internet!
