I’ve always been curious about flounders and sole. I find it so unusual that there are so many varieties. I was prompted to look up flounders on wikipedia after seeing this and was amazed to see how many kinds of fish have eyes on either the right or left side of their heads. I used to think it was only two kinds… right and left varieties… boy was I wrong. I think the sign of a good photo is one that makes you want to learn more. This photo does that…
LOL! I guess I asked for that… I was just surprised at how many different looking fish ( what I meant by varieties) that have the distinct difference from "normal" fish by having their eyes on one side of their body. Some are thicker than others… some are much larger than others, and some have a different body shape. That’s what I meant.
