Apple Store, Palo Alto. Introducing the iPod Hi-Fi today.
(For the curious, it sounds like a stereo =)

Apple just passed 50 million iPods sold. What’s NeXT?
Soon the iPod will be a method to generate and consume media.
That means a camera.

Ironically, this photo was taken with Kodak’s version of that vision, a pen-based camera with a 3” screen and WiFi connection to Kodak services.

  1. No Not Yet. I’m Old You Know. Frainswas !I Really Like this Shot.Is That What there After Lol.

  2. Oh, boy, I am way behind in my technologies! (Owning them, I mean.)
    Sounds very interesting.
Do I see the photographer in the center?

  3. I have wondered why Apple hasn’t been more enthusiastic about adding content generators to the iPod. While I love my iPod, I consider it a good four to five years behind the products offered by Archos, who have been integrating mp3 and divx recording into thier portables for years now.

On the subject, how do you like the Kodak? I love being able to grab an open hotspot and upload pictures for people, but right now I am moving my SD card to my iPaq to do so. Does the kodak have a generic upload capability, such as ftp?

  4. Oh, I am really behind in what I own! LOL

  5. and the ipod was taken following an apple through the window? an eye catching marketing concept (assuming)! I’m struggling to imagine a pen based camera with a three inch screen, if it flips or is it a rolling screen? Apple and Kodak should be a formidable paring…:) thanks for this share

  6. When Steve says "pen based", he means it has a touch screen and it comes with a stylus:

  7. lol@self…thank you Kevin

  8. Very nice! Yay for technology. The layout of this photo reminded me of one of my own.

  9. Mimosa: yes that is my reflection in there.
oddwick: well, if you can’t say something nice…. I just shared a detailed critique with the Kodak product manager…. In short, the UI is the antithesis of Apple design.

  10. It is a good idea to composition. Good shot!

  11. I just stumbled across this. It’s just like a display they have in the Ginza store:
    The new iPod Hi-Fi

  12. hmmm…. From AppleInsider:

"Wu noted the challenges companies face when trying to produce a converged product of high quality. However, he said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs "is finally satisfied with the end product Apple engineers have produced in terms of quality and the right blend of cell phone and portable media player."

  13. Hi Steve, Emirates Mac we’d love to have your photo added to the group.

  14. I remember this display! Where have all the ipod hi-fi’s gone? And how did we possibly live without iphones and ipads? 🙂

Thanks for the flexible license, I’m using your photo in my iphone app/guide to the bay area -> http://sutromedia.com/sf

Let me know if you want a promo code!

  15. Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Circle of lights, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

  16. This just in from China – Fake Apple Stores.

And how do you copy the sales experience, the soft side of the service offering?

"these salespeople… all genuinely think they work for Apple."
