    so lonely looking

  4. Nice. I should be back up soon!

  5. Great shot!
I do not ski so I may be missing some information. I am trying to figure out where you were to take this photo since you are higher than the ski lift! I know, you had one of your small rockets on your back and were up in the air, hovering to get a better view..

  6. so… it’s full of puzzles…. =)

I like this hypothesis of how I took the shot…
    Ski Lift

  7. Pas vrai!?

Tu étais en ski, dans les airs, pendant que tu prenais la photo?! C’est une idée. LOL

    And this was my puzzle..

Actually, at first, I thought it was an uphill slope and that you were at the bottom, high up. The trees slant away from us. Then, I was not sure. I examined the tree shadows and thought that the sun had to be very high (though not that much at this time of year) to not be obstructed by the mountain and still make long shadows as if it was late in the day. But then I thought that the top of the photo must be the bottom of the hill. There is a small box next to the ski-lift but nothing else. Then again, it might be the mountain’s shadow that I see. I would imagine that the ski-lift goes up on the right and down on the left. It seems to be going up. Well, I am still unsure…A real puzzle! In any case, you were doing something like this! In the air!

  8. my guess is that the ski lift exits at the bottom of a multi-story building and you were on a balcony higher up…. i do like the small rocket backpack idea though too. you did well to avoid camera shake with one of those on your back.

  9. Of course I figured that out but since I do not ski, I forget that ski-lifts might start next to, under or inside a building. And my first reaction was indeed that it was going up. The title was changed or I did not initially pay attention to it.

It was still fun to have this personal puzzle! It keeps the mind active! LOL

  10. hmmm…. I am nowhere near a building, and I have my skis on, but they are completely off the ground…

  11. Then I repeat:

    Pas vrai!?

Tu étais en ski, dans les airs, pendant que tu prenais la photo?! C’est une idée. LOL

    And this was my puzzle..

  12. If I am reading the French right, you are correct… but I was not skiing at the time…

  13. Ah, so you were doing
this Dans les airs 1 or this Dans les airs 2 over the "monte-pente"!

  14. Oh, it was much more sedentary. I was on a chair lift that was crossing over the one you see here. At the moment of crossing, I noticed this wonderful perspective that draws the eye upward. So I had to ski back to take the lift again and get the shot.

  15. Ha, it was a great ride for me! I would almost never have guessed, unless I had extra clues, since I had no idea that lifts would cross over each other. You see what that extra ski run did?

I must admit that you did give this clue: "I have my skis on, but they are completely off the ground…" This too tickled my mind: Dans les airs 3

Well, I was having fun with this anyway…It was most amusing to try to guess! Thanks for not giving me the explanation too soon. My little grey cells are healthier now!

  16. Great point of view you found!

  17. Reminds me of a number of old photos I took when I lived in Steamboat, CO one season.

When you are a lift operator you are the first and last person on the mountain and there are no people riding chair lifts 😉

  29. Great shot! I’m accustomed to chairlift photos, but it’s not often that you get a vantage point like this.

Hope you don’t mind me adding a tag. The trailspottingsquaw tag includes your photo in a flickr slideshow that an article of mine links to.

  30. Looks like the newport chair @ squaw as you look left and down while riding the siberia chair on your way up to siberia bowl
