  1. oh my god, that´s one kick ass vehicle!!!

  2. Is this an electric car ? It looks like an Ariel Atom tho, and as far as I know that isn’t electric. And if its converted it’s a shame to destory a good Atom 🙁

  3. I second Franky’s idea of this being reminiscient of the Ariel Atom, if its anywhere near as fast and nimble, you are one very very lucky driver! 🙂

  4. Looks like a FUN, FUN ride!!!

  5. as the exhaust emits expanding streams of daisies..have fun, vrrroooom ~ ~ peace!

  6. great visual… =)

Franky et Mikey: It is an Ariel chassis, modified to take an electric motor… so it does 0-60 in 3 seconds (friction limited by the tires).

    Telstar: quite drafty! side view

  7. You realize all the car nuts who see this are green with envy. The good kind of course :o).

  8. This car is called the Wrightspeed X1. It was "assembled" by Ian Wright (an early Tesla Motors employee) from an Ariel Atom 2 "glider" (no engine) and an EV powertrain called an AC-150 from AC Propulsion (from San Dimas, CA). Ian describes it as a "proof of concept" vehicle, as he has no plans to put it into production.

The car can reach 60 mph in 3.07s, it has a top speed of 112 mph, and an incredible energy (fuel?) efficiency of 175 mpg equivalent. There is no doubt in my mind that electric vehicles are the future of high performance cars.

Steve, did you get to drive it? If so, lucky you!

    BTW, thanks for sharing.

  9. Thanks for the details….
