[It´s more than 10´ that I am looking at the large version… what a treasure…] Thanks for sharing.
So, you have pen friends in Argentina since long ago?! =D
*grin*
wait! I think I have something your stamps will like. Let me see if I can find it…
I love the blue one on the upper left, nice color gradiation. What got you started on philately? My fifth grade science teacher gave me a few and got me collecting.
Beware! Your stamps may drop a nostalgic tear when they see this and will wet your collecion 🙂
[A little book for young people published and administered by the Post Office where they could stick the stamps they purchased and "save" the money, like making a deposit – 1923]
Neat. I should dig mine up from my dad’s house. I know it’s still there somewhere.
I was looking for our old 8mm home movie projector two days ago and stumbled across my childhood stamp collection too. I may post some things from it one day. Isn’t that strange that I ran across my collection after so many years about the same time you did?
Maesk: I remember those Yemen stamps. They seemed thick and had no glue. I thought they were made for collectors…
Alieness: I thought you’d like the opening page of my collections…
Oddwick: I started collecting when my Dad gave me some Estonian and other European stamps he collected as a kid, which were pretty amazing. For example, during the hyperinflation period in Germany, they had to keep raising the price of a stamp. I have several stamps that have been "upgraded" to cost 1 million deutschmarks each.
Anyway, I collected U.S., Estonian and Canadian stamps because that’s what would come in the mail. I also bought a corner block of four of just about every new stamp issued in the 70s (of course, those are not valuable because they are so common).
The older ones from other countries are a collection gained by trading with others and buying other people’s stamps if they could be had for a bargain. I don’t think I spent more than $30 in total, mostly in <$1 amounts for big bags of unsorted stamps.
A certain little boy rekindled my interest. He told me with wide eyes that we can buy 1000 stamps for $1. Brought back memories…
Pkedrosky: that’s a much better title! I will upgrade now… thanks!
Rocketeer: sync!
That´s a great story, Steve!!!! Your Dad rocks!!! You know how much do I admire him!
Thanks for sharing it with us.
I am very happy to know that this was not just a finding, but a rekindle of interest in this hobby by the little hand of a little person.
I am also very happy to see that there are some blanks in those pages… =)
Would you consider stamps from 1920 to ~1950 valuable?
A book of soul

The ghost small hands

Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Jalalspages Postage Stamps Album, and we’d love to have this added to the group!
I have been to South America but missed out on getting some Argentinian old postage stamps. Having seen these I wish I had’ve got some now.
