   Is the communication acoustic? Each unit has a speaker and mic?

   each one has speakers, rolling motors, blinking lights, and a wireless link to peers. Not sure about a mic.

   Sync via an acoustic connection seems more interesting than via the wireless link. It would be a good model for biological choruses like cicadas, frogs etc…
