eBay is buying Skype.

CONGRATS to Jaan Tallinn, Toivo Annus, Hannes Linno and the whole Estonian development team (hey, Sten Tamkivi… nice timing =)… and of course to Niklas and Janus. You have built a world-changing product… twice!
Ross: great time to be in Tallinn and visiting Skype, eh? Please pass the good word on to everyone!
And congrats on the awesome exit Steve. Still not sure why eBay paid that price, but from your standpoint it does not matter, quite the contrary.
I too am a bit stunned by the deal, esp. when you compare apples to oranges with the Oracle/Siebel shinanigans, but I see Ebay taking a long view with this. And when you REALLY want something you pay top shelf!
Wow. Being *speechless* regarding Skype is not a fortunate thing, right? wow wow wow.
Estonia, Steve and Skype has always meant an explosive combination for me. Today, we all agree, undoubtlessly. 😉
First email, then voice… What´s your next step? Following the analogy… a moth suggets: Teleportation. :——–/
as a former PayPal alumni, i guess i’m glad to see eBay making more aggressive moves lately.
one does wonder whether a dividend might not be the best move for eBay shareholders, however if you’re not issuing a dividend i guess it’s not a bad way to go.
no comment on the multiple, but i would say the business is a better fit with eBay than most outsiders would think.
we *all* second Solitaire1 suggestion… bring da champagneeeee!
Becosh… you so great, hic, fren´f…ush… eeehhh where´s wash me drink?.. h? ey…

Zzzzzzzz…
well, following the analogy, don´t doubt that tomorrow they will rename it: eKipe
(Skype will be kind of equipement to ebay, so they would remain truthful as with the other name changes)… 0-)
