“Not an iPod”
Unfortunately, it seems that this was released before the software was ready for consumers (both the embedded code and the Mac sync). After hard resets of the device, two application crashes, and three software upgrade installs, the software was still completely unusable. So, I manually copied photos to an SD card, which it can then display.

What I’d really like is a portable, skim-able, off-line flickr with captions…. 😉

  1. Cool eye photo! It’s Eye week at FLickr! 😀 I took some macros of my friend’s eye on friday. I gotta say, it freaked me out a little.

And… it seems to me that you have to work too hard to be able to use that thing, but if it’s worth it for you, then it’s worth it. 😀

  2. Is that an LCD? For a photo of a screen, I’m amazed at how vibrant and true the colours are.

  3. iv0; let’s see the eyes…. 😎

Tak: oui. This is a 200K-pixel 2.5” LCD. Maybe that’s why it looks a bit better than the standard 115K-pixel 2.5” LCD on many pocket cameras today. This gadget is also very thin, so I guess it is aimed at people with big cameras and/or small screens who want some portable photos to show people.

But I wish it could sync with iPhoto. Kodak makes you install their viewer, register online for Kodak services, and duplicate photos from iPhoto before you can see how one of your photos looks on the screen. In trying so hard to switch users from Apple software, they have crippled their own product, IMHO.

Syncing with flickr could be fun, with automatic sizing to 200K pixel images

  4. Last night I saw an Oregon Scientific product: 3 MP camera (more like this panel with a camera built in) with 3.5" display – all for $179. THIS is where camera’s will go. Even the 2.7" display on the new Casio looked huge.

All the uploading/SW silliness needs to realize that we all have card readers and dragging files to the spare SD card is the way to go – keep it simiple.

  5. alrighty

but @least u can use it now
    :p
