  1. Great shot with superb clarity.

    My wife and I were hiking the Rio Santa Barbara canyon in New Mexico last week and literally every tree had a dozen or more cocoons. I have no idea what species but quite a sight to witness.

  4. oh, it’s a butterfly popping out from its chrysalis. The abdomen is white and still inside the shell. Various silk strands from the caterpillar stage are in the upper right corner.The colorful wings have yet to unfurl and harden (top of photo).

    You can see the outcome in the next photo.
