  2. WOW,….such a nice picture! This is a must in my favourites 😛
    Thanks for shiring!
    LOVE IT!

  3. This is a high quality timepiece. Can we see the whole thing, Steve? Very nice macro. I especially like the backlighting.

  4. Steve, have you tried taking the same picture with FX-7? How does it compare to Ricoh in general? Many thanks!

  5. Time stands still.

  6. Nice watch. Looks like the Ricoh’s 1cm macro is living up to the hype. You can almost read the gears’ numbers in the full size image.

    Max: Based on the tags, I’m guessing it’s a Bucherer… 🙂

  7. It could be a limited edition JLC. And I think Breguet also had a similar model a few years back.

  8. Thanks y’all! Complexify got the manufacturer right.
    iv0: I can hear you singing….
Gustavo: I can see your homophily bias kicking in. You are a clock, after all.
Alex: I did not do the same shot with the FX-7. The lighting (with back lighting) gets complicated when the camera is one cm away. The camera casts quite a shadow for anything other than side lighting. The Casio and FX-7 can’t focus in that close, so it’s hard to compare. I did compare macro zooms on some gridlines to verify that sure enough, it gets 5x closer in for a full in-focus frame. As for a Ricoh-Lumix comparison in general, I wrote one up on this photo. And my first impressions of Lumix vs. Casio are on this photo.

  9. love the lighting and the detail!

  10. [This day and age we’re living in
    Gives cause for apprehension
    With speed and new invention
    And things like fourth dimension.

Yet we get a trifle weary
    With Mr. Einstein’s theory.
So we must get down to earth at times
    Relax relieve the tension

And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
    They cannot be removed.]

    You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.
    The fundamental things apply
    As time goes by.

    And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you."
    On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
    As time goes by.

    Moonlight and love songs
    Never out of date.
    Hearts full of passion
    Jealousy and hate.
    Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
    That no one can deny.

It’s still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
    As time goes by.

Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers
    As time goes by…

"As Time Goes By" 1931 (!) music and words by Herman Hupfeld
