learning to race the all-manual Formula F4 race car with a couple of my partners at the Laguna Seca racetrack.

Over the three days, I spun off the track several times, and it felt like being in a washing machine… earning me the moniker “spin-master Steve”.

  1. FAB!!!! It looks cool bro!

  2. Cool man! At least they planned to youve you safely spin off the tracks. Did you guys have a race after the class, and why didn’t I hear the results on the news yesterday? ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. school?

That picture you took it yesterday, as ben says, man. You look the same… alas!

You are eternal! Stop sleeping in formol!

  4. oh oh… btw, the only feature left to perfection was to be a car racer…

    Checked!

    amazing.-

  5. Yikes. I got wrong with the "school" thing. However I am not deleting my words… I found something strange when I saw that one of the guys is Andreas.

  6. That’s so fun. I had the privilege of abusing one of Skip Barber’s Dodge Vipers a few years back at Sears Point. Weeeeee!

BTW, that downhill corkscrew turn on the backside at Laguna is nuts, eh? Talk about heating up those front discs…

  7. Yeah, the Viper is just nuts on the track. And that blind crest before the corkscrew (where you just aim at the tree top) sure made me pucker up. They add to the tension by telling us about the car that went straight and landed in the tree top.

Alieness: Andreas is one of my partners.

  8. I enjoy anything you do that adds to your "Adventure" set! Very cool…

  9. For the curious, here’s a pretty good shot of the Laguna Seca corkscrew… notice the 50′ elevation drop. Very, uh, exciting as you enter the turn.

But while looking for that image, I found this. Steve, how much room do you have in your basement?

  10. Whoah! What a trip! 50 feet! That’s like blind.

That slot car set is so cool. Looks like it MIGHT be able to change lanes? That’s the concept in mini racing that hasn’t made it yet. Maybe fuel cells will get us there. Can you imagine pit stops to put more fuel in your fuel cell in the middle of a long mini race on a course like that. Or even changing tires? That would be SO intense. Racing for the rest of us.

  11. Exactly… it IS blind, just like Steve said. You steer toward the top a tree, really, and take it on faith that there will be solid ground below.

  12. you lucky lucky man! ๐Ÿ˜€

That MUST have been fun! I love driving… One day, I will drive a real sports car like that…. *crossing fingers* ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. He’s off and flyin’
As he guns the car around the track
    He’s jammin’ down the pedal
    Like he’s never comin’ back
    Adventure’s waitin’ just ahead

    Go Speed Racer
    Go Speed Racer
    Go Speed Racer, GO!

  15. By the way…you look very great here :PP

  16. Hey, I did that, but only the one day class. And when I did it, they had just changed their sponsor from Dodge to Mazda.
