   What a shame. I hope the rest of the tree is still alive. My parents had an a large tree (at keast 12 foot in circumfrence)that was struck by lightning and broke apart like this. It died though. It made quite a few cords of wood.

   I concurr, too bad about the tree! They are so pretty in any season. I think it’ll probably survive. Wind is less traumatic than lightening. It’s still grand, just very lopsided.
