First hand experience with one of Robert Full’s muses. Upon closer inspection, each leg is bristling with hinge spines, forming a distributed foot. …and quite a tickler too.

Quite fitting for the TED theme: “inspired by nature”

    I think the same, Vanita. Perhaps because these are shiny and have a nice, round head. They are kind of cute.

    I love insects! not necessarily on me but such amazing diversity.

    In high school inspired by those bugs and silk worms i designed a city (using nanotech before the term came about) using similar creatures to spin a city,weaving togehter a shell, much as a mollusk is grown.

    I hate (no love) to be pedantic, but it isn’t an insect. Insect’s have 6 legs. Insects, and Millipedes are both arthropods, but their family trees branch up close to the root of the tree….

    i want one!!!
    i had a few small native millipedes in a tank once… they would always sleep curled up around a piece of carrot.
    i think this one would need a whole carrot though!!

    Holy shite! I saw huge numbers of these in an outdoor camp in Namibia (I think it was). It was astounding. I didn’t have the courage to pick one of them up, though… prolly because I was told they are poisonous.
