Looking up during breakfast at Buck’s… what do I see? An curious artifact looking back at me,

“the training module that NASA used to whip the monkeys into shape for their trip into space in the early 60’s.”
Jamis, the Don of Buck’s

The various lights cycle through symbols that the Monkey would recognize. The big yellow knobs must have been from the Man in the Yellow Hat.

  1. What an eclectic collection of things! Pretty cool to have THE original from that grand and frightening era. (Can’t forget that we were rising up to stay ahead of the communist hoard, after all.)

  2. I’ve got to check out Buck’s if I ever make it to the west coast… There’s lots of cool stuff there.

  3. Thanks for posting the link to Buck’s website. I just read this story and had a huge smile across my face the entire time. I thouroughly enjoyed Jamis’ writing style and the story is fantastic! I can’t wait to meet Jamis in person.

  4. Buck’s certainly is an institution. I was there yesterday and was looking at the dirigible remembering the first digital camera I had back in 99. {{15 minute lapse while I dug through my dusty archives and upload the photo to Flickr)). Here is the dirigible.

  5. Looks like you didn´t listen to them at that Time… (1999)

  6. Well, that’s a blast from the past! A Warhol moment.

  7. Were you inexplicably compelled to eat Ham and eggs?
