Puzzle Series: What is this, or what do you want it to be?
Ok, so Steve assures me that spoling is no issue so here’s what it is. *laugh*
It’s a makeup box, with molded glass cover. In the center is a mirror. We see the lights above us in the mirror. Then add to that, there’s a mirror behind that, so we’re getting a bit of an infinite view thingie. Or maybe the mirrors are somewhat segmented and pointed differently in the center there.
It’s the Letter "B" brought to you by Bling Bling…
Actually, it looks like the yellow surrounding portion is a reflector, like found on a vehicle. The white lights might be LED’s for a backup light for this vehicle.
OK… so it’s got a reflector and white LED’s… is that what I got right?
Other applications for something like that would be a signaling device, perhaps?
Ah ha, you’re right Rocketeer.. Those are LEDs, huh? So maybe an LED flashlight.. Or.. The scanner head for a pocket scanner? Hmm, so it’s probably smaller than I was seeing..
I do see reflections I was trying to brush off on first guess.. The LEDs are maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch recessed into a shiny thing…
Ohoh, how about one of those flashing led bike light things that you clip on to yourself when you go out. I stand by my rear image being a mirror image though.
Bingo BenODen + Rocketeer: Ben added the two remaining elements. It is an LED light with several reflections. And yes, the LEDs are recessed into a plastic reflector housing. It’s a USB powered keyboard light… so you can flickr in bed with the lights out.
Here’s the strange part. Everything in this image is a reflection, and that’s why it seems to float in space. I twisted the light to be up against a double pane glass window. The light source is a single row of 5 LEDs. I think the angle of the light to the glass is supporting zero reflection loss (from total internal reflection) because the intensity drop is so low (consistent with transmission losses for the reflection off the back glass).
So the big double reflection makes sense to me…. But I am trying to figure out the repeated sub-pattern of the three rows of lights. Maybe those are reflections off of the plastic cover of the light?
A high 5 back at ya Rocketeer!
It’s only four Leds! You should made some one else get that! I certainly wasn’t getting there. Very cool indeed. Love the reflection artistry!
Could we be dealing with reflections on all four surfaces of the glass? The two close ones are front and back of one pane, and the reflections from the two panes just happen (ah hem, JUST HAPPEN) to line up to look like a mirror image of each other? And yea, I the third row back in each image is most likely off the plastic reflector itself, and the main bulb reflection by the second glass interface drowns out the first reflection of it..
=D Hahhaaaaaaaa… I was reading all the comments… and suddenly OOPS! somebody was calling for me! 😉
I catched this one when you had already guessed right. Congrats to the Duo. I could have never been even closer to what it was…
In fact I still don´t understand what is it, J, your explanation was more puzzling than the very puzzle! You wanna drive me crazy. +)
It’s 4 LEDs in a row, attached to a goose neck that you plug into the USB port on your laptop computer to light up the keyboard when you want to compute in the dark. It’s a nice one, I looked online to find this model, but it was nowhere to be found…
http://www.meritline.com/usb-light-snake-light.html is the closest I could get. http://www.meritline.com/usbsnakligul.html shows in use.
AHA!
Gotcha. Thanks!
(edit: The lightsnake reminds me of this snakecam. (this site I made it for a client, btw))
I only want a notebook to be able to work from another place than this seat. I´ll miss the 19", and I hate the smaller keyboard, tho. Ggrrr…
