This entrepreneur has done a lot of subs, from James Bond’s to the record holding solo dive he did to 3000 feet. He is working on one that can go to the bottom of the deepest trench in the ocean. Most subs are like zeppelins. This one flies like a plane, using wings rather than ballast. If it loses power, it would float to the surface. But, then again, there is no way out unless someone opens the hatch from outside…
So, safety is based on trust. Hmmm, it does give one pause. I’m vaguely familiar with the design. I remember seeing it and thinking, It’s so obvious. Why hasn’t someone tried this before? Amazing how obvious solutions can go ignored for years, maybe forever…
