Hey wetboy, are you looking for a date?
For some reason, this little guy reminds me of the mutant cat-snake pets from one of my childhood Larry Niven books:

Larry Niven was one of my faves as I was growing up. My favorite book of his (with Jerry Pournelle) was "The Mote in God’s Eye." As an adult, I found he had a sequel to it… "The Gripping Hand." Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to make it about halfway through it… and it’s not as good as I remember the original.
zenera: he is still salameanering around. The trick was to warm him up!
Vanita: you are what you eat.
Rocketeer: Agreed! Ringworld was one of my favorites. Niven & Pournelle rock. I have gotten to know Pournelle’s son. He is building rockets, of course.
Ringworld was great! I like the fact that Niven used many of the same aliens in various books… and kept the same technology as well.. i.e. ships and their capabilities. When I was young, I tried to draw my version of the three legged, two headed Pierson’s Puppeteer one time. Using just his words, I could actually see this thing as a viable creature (my version didn’t look this detailed and looked more friendly).
