  1. Oh no! I can see his wires! That’s obscene!

Just kidding. Great picture, the orange things (circuits?) are nice. It’s funny, some designers strive to achieve that look, and others hide it behind layers of black plastic.

  2. wooo
    nifty nice nudey!
    :p

  3. thanks all!

    Nell likes orange.

Thanks for the notes, Alieness. Curious about the battery….

  4. Damn, Nell M beat me to the punch. The moment I saw the thumb I thought "got to call this obscene".

Interesting shot, are you as good at putting together as you are at pulling apart? I never was.

  5. From Boing Boing:

"Already, Flickr users have begun to use the photo-annotation tool to mark up the pic with technical details on the exposed components."

OK, so that’s "technical details" like, "I like this orange… thing", right?

    😉

  6. Strangely organic (orangic?)

  7. Just Tom, I thought the same thing, heh. Marvel at my technological knowledge 😉

  8. Not using rechargeables? Pity. I added some technical details. You’re welcome.

  9. Just like Flickr and inside-out California Rolls: open, exposed, beautiful and delicious (if you like wires).

  10. I wonder if this will void the warranty?

  11. poor camera…. so naked and so vulnerable 🙁

  12. I can see it now. The next stage in digital cameras: translucent cases.

  13. Paul Watson: to your question, asymmetric vectors are a common theme in device disassembly … it’s an entropy thang.

    Ben: I’d want one. =)

  14. ooh, very nice electro-guts shot

  15. Why do they case these things in brushed aluminum-effect anyway? I wanna buy one with a clear resin case! 😀

  16. I love the wavy cut of the circuit board. I wonder how it would be shooting a pic with it in that state. I am great at breaking things open but the reverse is not true.

  17. How would it be? Painful! The capacitors that drive a flash tube pack a hell of a wallop.

  18. this is fantastic
    great nudity
    even more then that:
    unskinned it is

  19. Thanks y’all. I have a hard time predicting which photos will be popular…. Glad to see there are a lot of closet geeks out there. =)

So much of our world is driven by technology and it is becoming a black box. There is much inner beauty.

When I take apart a 20 year old TV, it is so much more interesting than a modern LCD TV. Pre-"integrated circuit era" electronics can be gorgeous. I have pulled the cover off of a lot of electronics this year, and cameras are some of the most interesting.

Andyi: Right you are. Here’s another example.

  20. Look at what getting on boing boing gets you as far as hits, Steve… whew!

  21. yeah…. I noticed that. You gotta love the bloggers.

13K views within 2 days seems to be consistent as the "boing boing effect"….

  22. This is a whole new "take" on nude photography. Naked pictures from a naked camera. Roll up roll up , Japanese striptease, see everything!

PS you might like to look at my treatment of a videocamera to produce a similar set of pictures to this one.

  23. I remember seeing a photo in the "Cherry Hotel" in Vancouver BC, which had the caption

    "Naked photography a speciality"

and there was a group of fully dressed people having there photograph taken by a naked man.

    HyperBob
It is not always what it says on the can

  24. so this is a nude camera!! it doesnt look sexy at all!! :s

  25. "What’s wrong with being sexy?"
    – Spinal Tap

Kytheria: nude is not always sexy. 😉

  26. lots of wires… 🙂
    great piece of work!

  27. hey hey hey! Nice silicon PNP epitaxial planer transistor! hubba hubba!

  28. planer? planar?
Hmm, now that I think about it, is that an infrared port, an ultrasonic rangefinder, or something else?

  29. Better be safe than sorry.

  30. oops, planar.

Is that an infrared port on your camera or are you just glad to see me?

  31. i agree with…several people…screw the nice grey and black…I want a clear camera!

by the way…you just officially inspired me to take apart my prev camera which has been deemed "unfixable" 😀

  32. oh! i remembered what I REALLY wanted to say:

Could you have made a ‘home-made tazer’ out of that camera?? I know you can (and I have) from disposable cameras, but I’ve never tried with an actual one…huh…

    okies.yeah.justcurious.

  33. Hey, according to the new Flickr "interestingness" algorithm, this was the most interesting photo of the day, thanks to your input … yahoo!

  34. Fantastic! GreaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatPix!

  35. cool photo! Even though the amount of nakedness makes it hard to look at…But the notes are just too entertaining.

I like PCBs, ICs, discreet components and all that sexy stuff…

  36. wow when i grow up i am going to get a pro account

  37. Hehe, this is an entertaining photo. Must thank all those "note" that make it even more fun to poke around *coughs* 🙂

  38. this is indecent, lewd, lascivious

  39. Very erotic:-)
