Puzzle Series: What is this, or what do you want it to be?

  1. Looks like some kind of plug.

The light at the right seems to be reflected, so it could also be a lamp.

When I first looked at it, I thought it was a microscope, or a similar optic device.

  2. Well it’s not a squared circle photo.

  3. Part of a lighted switch on a panel. The light inside causes the part visible on the panel (left most part) to glow.

  4. Steffe: right you are. I see a hypercubed sphere. =)

Nelle: you win the "quickest draw" award once again…. You have a good gut intuition.

  5. The two metallic rings on the device on the left part support Nell’s idea that it is a plug. She also had a similar thought to mine that there were optics involved due to the light and reflective appearance.

My last post got no reaction from Jervetson, so I’m going to try a different tack…

Some uncommon type of jack and plug that are for fiber optics.

  6. some observations:

1* This is NOT Rock art, neither an alien babies´ killer. +)

2* It doesn´t look to be a macro this picture. I dare say it is a closeup but not a macro. So I discard the idea of a plug and/or jack.

3* I´ve gotta feeling… a feeling deep inside, oh yeah!-..oh yeah! =) that this is NOT the real orientation of the object. I perceive that it should be rotated 90º to the right.

    EDITED: I will risk something.

What if this is a microscope (what you see as a plug) -following too what J said that Nell has an intuition-. The light green or blue circle at the right is in fact the place to put the objects -a mirror- so the black circle you see with a white light inside is no other but the reflection of the microscope in the mirror-.

Easier to see what I mean rotating the pic 90º to the right.

  7. Well, if its not a microscope, macro or not, I’m going with telescope

  8. Bingo Ross, a new entrant to the puzzle solvers.

It is a photo looking into the front end of a Meade reflective telescope. By coming at it slightly off angle, I captured the internal optics and mirrors. In this diagram, the front face of the telescope is on the right, and I was shooting in just off the central “secondary baffle” (that is the flesh colored disk on the far left of the photo I photo here (all of the flesh tones you see are reflections of my hand)).

Nell was right that the light on the right is reflected and that it is some sort of optical device like a microscope.

  9. Welldone Ross!!!
    Very cool guessing.

  10. Good job Ross! Welcome aboard!

  11. kewl shot!
    laser or
    ultra hi pressure cuttin D-vice?

  12. YaY Nell!!! Congrats mi amiga! 😀 Y a ujté máj que la conojco! jejejeje

I of course as always, was late :S Oh well. Looked like a lamp in a door frame to me so maybe it was good that I was late… 😀

Oh yeah! Way to Go Ross! Congratulations!!! 🙂

  13. I miss these puzzles! Hope everyone is great! (flickr is not the same anymore… sniff)

  14. Ay ivo, totalmente… flickr isn’t what it used to be since such a long time, but… on the other hand, you know what? I smile every time I think about the wonderful time we had around in between 2004 / 2006… it was very special. I guess we all remember it with some nostalgia.

We were lucky. (a good way to see the glass half-full 😉

    Gran abrazo!!!! xoxoxoxxo
