Sarah McLachlan is just fantastic.

  1. Our former SF Mayor was having a brown nosing birthday party for Clinton, and Sarah was in the other room taking requests and perfoming solo for a handful of fans who would rather be with her. It was sublime.

  2. you r lucky & she rocks! =)

I should clarify: A skin buzz is A MA ZING! It is chiken skin but in a more sophisticated form (and name, actually).

  3. I like that G, "skin buzzzz"

    ;D

  4. ah yes, this reminds me that scientists have studied this ‘chicken skin’….

From Steven Johnson’s Mind Wide Open:

"the shiver of pleasure we experience while listening to our favorite music is the release of endogenous opioids… Animals appear to have a chill response to music as well. In one widely cited study, he played dozens of records to chickens attached to equipment designed to record their shivers of pleasure. The chickens turned out to have the strongest postitive response to the late era Pink Floyd record The Final Cut."

  5. Fairly odd. A Sarah McLachlan piece had just started playing from an iTunes playlist when I saw this.

I was invited to join the group & this is my first visit.

With RE to the image, I’m quite envious of the experience ;), but it’s a very nice capture!

BTW, I like the Mind Wide Open quote. An old friend of mine from a college station where I was a dj stopped by my apt. a while back. At one point I was talking about a new CD, and he explained that music meant very little to him anymore (& his date felt the same way). I don’t get that at all. I would have a number of ways to phrase "the shiver of pleasure," but THAT I get.

Personally, I still g-e-t a "release" of "endogenous opioids" (Beta-Endorphins?) listening to Coltrane’s "Africa." Ms. McLachlan occasionally provides a fix as well. 😉

"Without music, life would be an error." ~Oh, just some crazy German-Swiss philosopher

  6. Beware of Sarah´s oddities, Mr T!!! Danger! She happens to make the weirdest dreams come true with her strange powers. But you will still think it was all a coincidence.

"If I could turn back time…"

I know, that is Cher. But I´d really like to live Sarah´s magic once again. Maybe I will have to comfort knowing that I was lucky to have experienced it at least one time in my life.

    "If I could reach the stars…" =)

  7. I’d watch Sarah in the other room rather than have a personal visit with Clinton …. any time! Sarah is an artist! Clinton is a mere politician.

  8. I just downloaded her newest remix album Bloom on iTunes. Some interesting material there.

  9. Nice shot!! How lucky you were to have the opportunity to hear and see her in a small and relaxed venue.

Thank you for posting in the

  12. Yes, that’s where I found it (thanks for posting that link too, I forgot!)

It was awesome to find it… you can imagine.

  13. It’s still on wikipedia as someone showed me tonight. She was just amazing, again tonight. And there was some guy in a rugby shirt #23 up front
