For those who have not seen this yet… the DHMO scare.

  1. Unbelievable! Did you *really* have to eat that?

  2. Oligo: Here’s the sad part… I have been eating it for a while now, and I just learned that it is full of Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO).

  3. Cyclon-B was made with it (DHMO)?

    0-(

  4. I’m addicted to DHMO. In fact, I can’t live without it.

  5. It looks like DHMO and copper sulfate to me.

  6. Was that an owl I heard?

Rocketeer: No copper sulfate here, but I see the resemblance….

  7. How about crushed turquoise?

  8. For me this is Blue eye-shadow powder… (wink -wink) |-)

    Oh! I can´t help it… I am such a pretty ellegirl

And thank god they are not just for *mall* rats anymore!

ps: those poor rats are ugly even with blue eye shadow… I´ve seen them before

  9. I am afraid all your brains have been severely damaged by DHMO, and you all believe you see something blue and strange. Well, I am the only survivor and I guess I am the only one to see that on this photo there’s a pink frog frolicking on the red roof. Should I call ambulance for all of you?

  10. Eye-shadow for mole rats!

    "Golly jeepers
    Where’d you get those peepers?
    Peepshow, creepshow
Where did you get those eyes?"

    Olegos: dude. shake it off.

  11. "Eye-shadow for mole rats!"

Never thought about that, uh? 0-)
    Neither did I… 0-O

I´ve been reading that they (mole rats) have a very complex social behavior with a queen on top. Should you change the motto to: Always follow the female mole rat?

  12. btw, this is very offensive:

  13. The mole rats just follow the same moth motto. It’s quite popular among the social insects too. Must be some cross-species genetic conservation….

Back to the stuf: Turquoise and cosmetics won’t make DHMO behave like that….

  14. Is this more of your hydrophobic sand and DHMO?

  15. Right you are Rocketeer. This was a derivative image, that morphed into a puzzle for those who had not participated in the earlier one. I’m glad to made the connection.

But do watch your DHMO consumption. You seem to have sprouted a second head, like Zaphod Beeblebrox.

  16. RE-cool that you brought this DHMO thing back to top. Congrats to 2-head Rocketeer!

J, I´ve been searching but I don´t find any explanations about what does DHMO do at the molecular level. For example: Cyanide kills because it stops the flow of electrons in the citric acid cycle of the respiration od the cells. So you die of cellular anoxia. At least this is what I learned a long time ago.

Now, What damage does DHMO produce? Has it to do with the structure of its molecule (H-O-H)? the electrons makes it easy combinable with other particles -Hydrogen being so volatile (1 e)? What does DHMO do to us? At which level? brain cells, muscles, bones…? And how is it posible that intoxicates, but doesn´t kill, but also can kill… I mean, the information I read at theat website (DHMO.ORG) is a bit alarmist and "light" at the scientific level.

Can you help me? Sorry if it bothers, maybe I should ask Oldcola about this… thank you

  17. very funny! OldCola won’t touch the stuff. Not enough fermentation.

  18. I´ve read that Oldcola is made with DHMO too!… Should we stop being friends?

  19. Don’t hate him just because he’s dehydrated.

  20. Yay! Finally the newcomer is "on the board" with a correct answer (in time, that is…) I so enjoy your photographs jurvetson. You’re one of the most interesting characters on Flickr and I want you to know I appreciate your contributions and your wonderfully playful personality!

  21. Well, merci beaucoup.

Here’s a thank you photo for the Rocketeer dyad.

  22. DHMO can kill! yes, it can. and i can not live without it, i am addicted. is there a group in flickr for DHMO addicts?

otherwise: that is beyond commentary! thanks for the link. you are rather well informed.

    lol

  23. Just found out there is an extremely high concentration of DHMO in my coffee. WTF!
