this is completely off topic but, I´ve just got a call from Miami… the "WTF w/brazilians" community creator, Gary. This is weird…
As your photo…
Gliclerine or oil in water. Its drops going up and down as the microwaves heat the water enough to make those small bubbles filled with air that stick to the oily "pearls" sending them down first… and probably up when they return to normal temperature. Like peannuts dancing in beer =)
If it is not this I give up… after "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" all in a row just 2 hours ago I need some relax.
Wow, free your mind, and you nailed it. I’m going to have to post a new mystery….
The large beads are a low temperature thermoplastic (kinda like hot melt glue), and the little air bubbles stick to the side.
There was lesss dynamic motion than La Princesse proposed because the balls became sticky as they melted.
A "cool’ effect is that they melt at low temperatures, moving from hard white plastic to transparent silly putty. The temperature is so low that you can stretch and mold it by hand into any shape and it becomes hard solid plastic when it cools.
For the geeks, it is Polycaprolactone from Dow Chemical and melts at 136 degrees F. It is used in prototyping, dental impressions, absorbable sutures, and form fitting cutlery handles for disabled people.
iv0: "lol La Princesse you mean you need to unplug from the Matrix right? :D"
Absolutely!!!! 0-)
(look at my smiley! it has one eye only…! Invasion!) 0-P
"Hello, Mr. Jurvetson, good to see you again!". Hee hee… now…
What did I win? |-)
(one-eye smiley… blinking, tho)
aha! (blink – blink)… so you found out, Mr J! You verrrry fast.
Now. We want no fame, no glory. Just, take us to your leader… Or the girl is… ours.

Totally cool shot, jurvetson.
Now the photo has been guessed, I vote you rename it ‘Ascending to the MotherShip.’ 🙂
Love this shot. And the underlying physics behind it. I’ve chosen your photo for the competition of the week at Scientist Photographers group, you can follow the scoring in the discussion section of our group! Good Luck!
Very cool, love the colors!
