My Dad and I visited his old home outside Tallinn that is now a museum. We looked at the pictures on the wall, and saw this one. He recognized himself (6 years old then) and his Dad on the left. The horse was named “Tiiu” (which is my Mom’s name too…. spooky).

This “bridge” across the river moves with the current pushing on a rudder underneath that can pivot to push the platform forward or back.

  1. In 1992 here took place a huge event called "America 92" celebrating the 500 years since the discovery of our continent.

One of the many places to visit along the exposition was a reconstruction of the Immigrant´s Hotel like it was in the 1900´s (there immigrants were kept in "quarantine" actually).

I went with my Dad to pay a look at the old books from Migration´s Office. And my Dad found the line in which Grandpa was registered. He came to Argentina from Genova, Italy, when he was six.

It was very moving. As this must have been for you two, too. Hope I didn´t bore you with the story. 🙂

  2. It is weird when you realise close family members have been named after animals. My grandfather was called Arthur, but we could find no previous trace of the name in the family history. It turns out it was the name of his father’s favorite horse.

Just odd, y’know. Calling your son after your favorite horse.

  3. A bit of a blow to the ego, no?

This story is a bit stranger… My Dad had not met his future wife yet…. He just grew up with a horse named Tiiu. So, maybe it was a Freudian thing….. 😉

  4. That final observation was…

    SUPERB!
    SUPREME!
    MAGNIFIQUE!

ps: my regards 2 them. 😉

  5. Look!

    =)

Note: I said my grandpa was six at his arrival, but actually he must have been 9 as he was born in 1900.

  6. Where is this pic made? How is this place called?

  7. *wave* hello to the three generations! Cool stuff.
