The EcoSphere is a sealed-glass ecosystem in balance. Only sunlight comes in. Kevin Kelly writes wonderfully about the marvels and challenges of getting these to work in his book, Out of Control. It’s a good overview of evolution, co-evolution, hives, artificial life and the power of biological processes. Biosphere 2 is a much more ambitious project.
