On Lanai.

They just strolled on by as I was reading Tribes by Seth Godin. He writes about Facebook, Obama, and leadership as heretical movements.

“Tribes are about faith.

Heretics are the new leaders.

Faith is critical to all innovation.

Faith is the cornerstone of humanity; we can’t live without it. But religion is very different from faith. Religion is just a set of invented protocols

In order to lead, you must challenge the status quo of the religion you’re living under.

Without religion, it’s easier for faith to flag. It’s no wonder that religion has been around forever.

So successful heretics create their own religions.

You can do this on purpose.”

  4. Given that all Mavericks are Heretics, doesn’t it make sense, that we are born again rocketeers!

Talk about faith, every time we push the button, and god knows we have a great tribe.

Interesting to think about Mavericks in this light. Do you think we have created a new religion? No question there is something holy and spiritual about the time we spend out there together. Just look at your photographs.

    Happy New Year.

  5. "Religion is just a set of invented protocols"…

  6. I agree with msamaclean, and was just thinking that religion could be considered a discipline for uncultured savages who had to be controlled to obstain from anarchy.

"Faith is critical to all innovation" – and taking a proper leap of faith is a decision to free the mind, which will free the improvised direcred actions bordered with the the set limits of the distcipline? 🙂

    Happy New Year!
