For a sense of how fast, Tesla unveiled the Model S high performance 2021 model, This Plaid edition sedan is beyond ludicrous. Here is the Laguna Seca race video.

From today’s Electric: “Tesla unveils Model S Plaid: 520+ miles, 200 mph, and 0-60mph in less than 2s

• Quickest 0-60 mph and quarter-mile acceleration of any production car ever
• Acceleration from 0-60 mph: under 2.0 s
• Quarter mile: under 9.0 s
• Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive”

Now, that’s for a 4-door sedan that seats seven! Once the battery advances are incorporated, and the SpaceX thrusters, the next Roadster should safely keep the gas-burners from even trying to keep up. Symbolically, they will all be out of gas.

    As for Laguna Seca, they smoked my lap time! 🙂

    I especially remember that blind crest before the corkscrew (minute 1:00 of the Tesla video) where you just aim at the treetop. It sure made me pucker up. The track pros add to the tension by telling us about the car that went straight and landed in the tree!offensive driving schoolThis 1999 photo is from race training with the all-manual Formula F4 with a couple of my partners at the Laguna Seca racetrack. Over the three days, I spun off the track several times, and it felt like being in a washing machine… earning me the moniker "spin-master Steve".
